Basically anyone can run a masternode, you don’t need electricity, a powerful graphic card or many racks of computers; you just need a little server, a small computer that will remotely control and run your masternodes. However, it will need configuration, require some time to monitor, and getting some basics in Linux command line will help.
We advise you to outsource that server, as it is usually inexpensive, reliable, trustworthy, and with an almost 100% server uptime, which will be prevent you from losing reward’s opportunities.
For most of the masternodes, you will have to install a script that will setup your server, will prepare it for your masternode and connect it to your wallet.
The server will then provide you a private key that you will input into the wallet (the opposite is also possible).
Next step is to start the masternode from the wallet; and for that the network will check if the server is well set up and connected to the wallet with the right private key and with the proof of the collateral’s transaction.
To save you the trouble, you can always hire the services of a third-party hosting company. We recommend you to choose one with VPS server to keep full control over your masternodes and server. Multiples options exist with different packages, so make some research to find the one that matches your needs and budget.
The costs of running a masternode are insignificants and you will get paid a % of block rewards for each block.
